We stayed with Peter and Catherine
in Hobart. We didn't take any photos of the Interhash2000 because we were
way too busy dancing, running and drinking (anyway, they're making a video).
We visited Port Arthur, where the
convicts lived, it's really pretty but life was tough for them. The town
is on a spit of land and big dogs patrolled the isthmus. Only one man escaped,
Martin Cash, he died of old age as a free man. The dead convicts were buried
on the Isle of the Dead (1,300 of them).
We also met up with Catherine's
Dad, Peter, a real Gent. We had tea (ok, dinner!) at Hans and Susie's place
in the country. It was a laundry party so we dressed for the occasion -
they were surprised!
Leslie, myself, Peter and Catherine
then went up to Cradle mountain. It's an amazing place!
